Family and Couples Counseling
Couples and families are seen at AMHP for a variety of reasons. Families often want support during a period of transition. Sometimes it is in regard to their relationship, issues with children, parents, health concerns, employment or grief.
A licensed therapist will meet with the couple or family for a full assessment and to discuss counseling techniques that are appropriate for each individual. Couples and families are referred to other specialists as needed. That may include, but is not limited to, a psychiatrist, psychologist, neurologist, general practitioner, or a physical therapist.
Family Involvement
At AMHP, we recognize the impact of mental illness on the family and believe that family participation in the treatment team increases the potential for a positive outcome.
AMHP provides guidance and support to the family and helps the client express their needs to them in a productive manner. Our staff works to educate family members about the effects the client's disorder has on the family as a whole, and provides guidance for interactions between the client and family for a more positive outcome.
